How the split works

Share per person = plan price ÷ people
Saving per person = individual price − share (per charge), × charges per year

With the example, a $19.99 plan shared by 4 people is $5.00 each, compared with $11.99 for an individual plan: $83.91 saved per person per year. Shares are rounded to the cent, so the person paying the bill may cover a cent or two of rounding.

Questions and answers

How do you split a family subscription fairly?

The simplest fair split is equal shares: divide the plan price by the number of people. If one person chose the plan or uses it far more, some groups agree on a larger share for them instead.

Is it allowed to share a family plan with friends?

It depends on the service. Many family and household plans require members to live at the same address, and some check. Read the plan's terms before sharing outside your household.

How do we handle payments every month?

One person usually pays the bill and the others repay their share, often through a payment app on a schedule. Agreeing in advance on what happens if someone leaves the group, or the price rises, avoids awkward conversations later.
