About MapSub
Map Your Subscriptions. Optimize Your Spend.
Subscriptions are easy to start and easy to forget. A streaming service here, an app there, a software seat for someone who left the team: each charge is small, and together they add up to real money most people never total.
MapSub exists to make that number visible and easier to reduce, with free tools you can use without an account and prices you can check for yourself.
What MapSub publishes
- A private subscription tracker that keeps your list in your own browser, plus a spreadsheet template.
- 11 calculators for specific questions: is the yearly plan worth it, what will this per-seat plan cost my team, what does this price rise cost me.
- Price data for 26 services and 92 US plans, and 63 plans in the UK, Canada and Australia, each with the date and the page it was read on (pricing, also as one data file).
- Price histories for Netflix, Spotify and Disney+, every change linked to an archived copy of the provider's own page.
- Research such as how much Americans spend on subscriptions, built from official statistics and surveys we traced to their source.
How we check facts
- Prices come only from the provider's own website: pricing pages, plan pages, help centers and announcements. We keep the exact wording, the page address and the date. When a provider's site shows us another country's prices, we read its US page on a recent Internet Archive copy and say so on the table.
- Every price is re-checked monthly. Changes are reviewed before they're published. Latest check: Nov 1, 2026.
- Statistics are traced to the original publisher, with the sample, dates and definition. We don't repeat figures we couldn't trace, and we don't average numbers that measure different things.
- Calculators show their formulas with a worked example, and the code is tested against hand-checked answers before every release.
- Mistakes are logged in public. Our updates and corrections log lists every data change and every error we've fixed (2 corrections so far).
What we believe
- Privacy first. No bank connections and no accounts. You shouldn't have to hand over financial logins to understand your own spending.
- Independent. We're not owned by, or paid to favor, any service we write about. If we ever earn a commission from a link, the page will say so, and it will never change a calculation.
- Missing beats wrong. When we can't verify something on an official source, we leave it out and say why.
How MapSub is made
MapSub is written and maintained by MapSub Editorial. Pages are drafted with the help of AI software and then checked: calculations by automated tests, facts against primary sources. The full process is in our editorial standards and how we calculate.
Who it's for
Households who want to know what they really spend on subscriptions, freelancers juggling app costs, and small businesses trying to keep software spending under control. Our tools and examples use US dollars and US conventions first, and work anywhere.
