What these dates mean
Netflix doesn't publish a dated list of its price changes. The dates here come from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, which saves copies of public web pages from time to time. For each change we found the last saved copy of a Netflix US page showing the old price and the first showing the new one. The real change happened between those two dates; when copies were saved days apart, that window is narrow, and when they were weeks apart, it's wider.
The prices are what Netflix showed to new US subscribers, per month, before tax. Netflix's help page has said since at least 2020 that "These prices apply to new members and will gradually take effect for all current members", so existing members usually moved to a new price later than these dates.
Before December 2016, the archived Netflix pages we found show only a starting price ("Plans from $7.99 a month"), not a price per plan, so the table starts there. Captures from 2019 to late 2020 of Netflix's help page don't contain prices, so for those years we used Netflix's homepage and sign-up page.
What to do when the price goes up
- See what the increase costs you over a year with the subscription price increase calculator.
- The ad-supported plan is the cheapest way to keep Netflix; compare all current plans on our streaming prices page, which also has a lineup calculator.
- If someone outside your home uses your account, an extra member slot is usually cheaper than a second account. The shared plan calculator splits the cost.
- Keep a note of what you pay and when it renews in the free subscription tracker so the next increase doesn't go unnoticed.

Questions and answers
When did Netflix last raise prices in the US?
The latest increase we found first appeared on Netflix's US pages in Feb 2026 – Mar 2026: Extra member with ads went from $6.99 to $7.99; Extra member without ads went from $8.99 to $9.99; Premium went from $24.99 to $26.99; Standard went from $17.99 to $19.99; Standard with ads went from $7.99 to $8.99.
How much has Netflix gone up?
Standard was $9.99 a month in the earliest plan table we found (Dec 8, 2016) and is $19.99 now, 100% more. Premium went from $11.99 to $26.99 (125%). The ad-supported plan started at $6.99 in 2022 and is $8.99.
How often does Netflix raise prices?
We found 7 rounds of US increases between 2017 and 2026, between 13 and 23 months apart. Not every round touched every plan: in Oct 2023 – Dec 2023 only Premium went up.
Does Netflix still have a Basic plan?
Not for new US members. Basic was last listed at $9.99 on Jun 3, 2023 and was gone from the US plans page in the next capture. The page doesn't say what happened to people already on Basic.
When does a price increase reach existing members?
Netflix's US help page says new prices apply to new members first and "gradually take effect for all current members", and that current members get an email 30 days before their price changes. So the dates on this page are when new members saw the price; your own bill may have changed later.
